The Ramadan Relief Package 2025 is now active. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a Rs20 billion plan to support families during the holy month. This initiative will provide direct financial aid to 4 million families across the country. Each family will receive Rs5,000 through digital wallets, ensuring fast and transparent distribution.
Direct Cash Transfers for 4 Million Families
At the launch event, PM Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of this relief package. The government has increased the budget from last year’s Rs7 billion to Rs20 billion. This increase will provide greater support to struggling families. The initiative covers all provinces, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The digital payment system removes the need for long queues at Utility Stores. Beneficiaries will receive direct cash transfers, allowing them to buy essentials at their convenience. The entire process will be completed within the first ten days of Ramadan to ensure timely assistance.
Government’s Commitment to Economic Relief
PM Shehbaz stated that inflation is lower this year compared to past Ramadan seasons. He hopes this package will bring financial relief to millions of Pakistanis. The government has worked with NADRA, the State Bank of Pakistan, BISP, and tech companies to ensure smooth digital transactions.
He also expressed gratitude to international partners for their support. Their contributions have helped strengthen the government’s mission to assist vulnerable communities.
Additional Support Measures
Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain assured that cash transfers would be completed in ten days. To further support families, 600 stalls will be set up at the tehsil level. These stalls will sell sugar at a subsidized rate of Rs130 per kg. Additionally, essential goods at Utility Stores will be available at a 15% discount.
He also clarified that the government is not shutting down the Utility Stores Corporation. Instead, restructuring efforts are underway. The government plans to privatize the stores to improve efficiency. The goal is to enhance service delivery while continuing relief programs.
A Step Towards Economic Stability
The launch of Ramadan Relief Package 2025 is a major step in the government’s efforts to support low-income families. PM Shehbaz reaffirmed his commitment to economic stability and social welfare. This package will ensure that millions of Pakistanis receive the help they need during Ramadan.
