Dubai Businessman Donates Dh3 Billion for Cancer Hospital in Memory of Daughter, Pledges $500M for Global Medical Care

Mirwais Azizi’s cancer hospital donation

Mirwais Azizi’s cancer hospital donation is the largest private healthcare contribution in UAE history. The chairman of Azizi Group has pledged Dh3 billion to build a cancer hospital and research center in Dubai. His donation is part of the Fathers’ Endowment campaign, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Azizi made this generous contribution in memory of his daughter, Farishta Jan Azizi, who passed away from cancer last year. He announced this initiative at the 5th Arab Hope Makers event in Dubai. His goal is to provide free and affordable cancer treatment so patients in the UAE do not need to travel abroad for advanced care.

A Vision for Advanced Cancer Treatment

The new Dubai cancer hospital will have the latest medical technology and top global experts. It will serve as both a treatment center and a research and training facility. Azizi wants to introduce innovative cancer treatments, giving patients access to world-class care in the UAE.

Construction will begin this year. Further updates will come from Sheikh Mohammed’s offices. This hospital is part of the UAE’s effort to expand healthcare infrastructure and support those in need.

A Father’s Tribute and Legacy

Azizi shared his personal loss and the reason behind this donation. His daughter, Farishta, was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. After initial successful treatment, the disease returned aggressively. She passed away on October 29 last year and was buried in Dubai, a city she loved.

Her brother, Farhad Azizi, CEO of Azizi Group, spoke in a video at the event. He expressed gratitude for being able to provide the best care for his sister but acknowledged that many others cannot afford treatment. The family hopes this hospital will offer free cancer treatment in the UAE, helping those in need.

Expanding Healthcare Support Globally

Azizi’s commitment to healthcare goes beyond the UAE. He also announced a $500 million donation to build Farishta Azizi Medical City in Kabul, Afghanistan. This large project will include:

  • A 400-bed cancer hospital
  • A 200-bed maternity and gynecology hospital
  • An orphanage for 10,000 children
  • A medical university and nursing school
  • Other essential healthcare facilities
