CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz has approved the first-ever ‘Sahulat-on-the-Go Bazaars’ to provide affordable essentials across Punjab. This project aims to help people buy daily necessities at low prices through structured roadside markets. It will begin with a pilot phase in Lahore and later expand to other parts of the province.
Pilot Project in Lahore
CM Maryam Nawaz led a special meeting where she directed officials to launch the pilot phase within four months. The first phase will establish 816 stalls at 14 key locations in Lahore using government-owned roadside land. These locations include:
- Multan Road
- Hanjarwal
- Manga Mandi
- Raiwind
- G-1 Market, Faisal Town
- Moon Market
- Bedian Road
- E-Millat Road
- Gulshan Ravi
- Shahdara
- Shadman
- Singhpura
Each bazaar will have cottage-style stalls, where vendors will sell food and essential goods at fixed prices. This setup ensures that daily wage earners and low-income families can afford necessities.
Expansion Across Punjab
The Punjab government plans to expand Sahulat-on-the-Go Bazaars to every tehsil in the province. CM Maryam Nawaz stressed the need to make essential goods more accessible. She ordered officials to monitor the project and ensure smooth operations.
At the meeting, Punjab Model Bazaar Management Company Chairman Muhammad Afzal Khokhar shared a report on the success of model bazaars during Ramadan. CM Maryam Nawaz praised the results and emphasized the importance of organized markets.
Clean and Secure Shopping Environment
Officials will take special steps to keep these markets clean and secure. CM Maryam Nawaz instructed authorities to prioritize hygiene and safety for shoppers.
Efforts are also underway to beautify public spaces. In Rawalpindi, teams have started a cleanup drive to remove encroachments and illegal bus stands.
Additionally, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb chaired a three-hour review meeting at the Commissioner Office Rawalpindi. She reviewed ongoing development projects and discussed ways to improve urban infrastructure.
