CM Punjab Launches ‘Aghosh’ Program: Rs 23,000 Cash Aid for Pregnant Women and Mothers

The Punjab government has launched ‘Aghosh’ program for pregnant women, which will provide Rs 23,000 in financial aid to ensure better healthcare and support for mothers. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif introduced this initiative, calling it a historic step for maternal and child health.
Who Will Get the Aid?
In the first phase, pregnant women and mothers with children under two years old will receive financial help. The program covers 13 districts:
- Dera Ghazi Khan
- Taunsa
- Rajanpur
- Layyah
- Muzaffargarh
- Kot Addu
- Bahawalpur
- Rahim Yar Khan
- Bahawalnagar
- Bhakkar
- Mianwali
- Khushab
- Lodhran
How Will the Financial Aid Be Given?
The Aghosh program offers cash aid to encourage medical check-ups and child healthcare.
- Registration Bonus: Rs 2,000 for the first visit to a health center or a Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic.
- Medical Check-ups: Rs 1,500 for each visit, with a total assistance of Rs 6,000 before childbirth.
- Childbirth Gift: Rs 4,000 for delivering the baby at a government health facility under the program.
- Newborn’s First Check-up: Rs 2,000 if the baby gets a medical check-up within 15 days of birth.
- Birth Registration: Rs 5,000 for registering the child’s birth certificate at a health center.
- Immunization Incentive: Rs 4,000 in two installments of Rs 2,000 for completing the baby’s vaccination schedule.
Government’s Commitment to Mothers and Children
CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of healthcare for mothers and babies, especially in poor areas. “The health of mothers and children requires special attention, as a healthy mother ensures a healthy family,” she said. The government is committed to improving women’s health and reducing maternal and infant deaths.
To help women, the government has also launched a toll-free helpline. It will provide information about registration, financial aid, and medical services.
The Aghosh program is part of Punjab’s broader plan to improve healthcare for women and children. It aims to make medical services more accessible, especially in rural and remote areas.
