Masjid al-Haram in Ramadan 2025 has seen a record-breaking number of worshippers in the first ten days of the holy month. Reports confirm that over 25 million pilgrims and visitors gathered at the Grand Mosque in Mecca for prayers. More than 5.5 million Muslims performed Umrah during this period.

Improved Crowd Management

Authorities have taken major steps to manage the growing number of worshippers. Over 11,000 employees work across the mosque’s courtyards and walkways to ensure smooth movement. Additionally, 350 supervisors oversee 4,000 workers. These workers clean the mosque five times a day and guide visitors to key areas like the Tawaf area and prayer halls.

Enhanced Facilities for Comfort

To provide a comfortable environment, authorities have expanded the cooling system. The Grand Mosque now operates one of the largest cooling systems in the world. It has a total capacity of 155,000 tons, keeping indoor temperatures between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius. This helps pilgrims stay comfortable during prayers.

To keep visitors hydrated, officials placed 20,000 Zamzam water dispensers across the mosque. For easier mobility, 400 electric golf carts help elderly and disabled worshippers.

Upgraded Sound and Lighting System

Masjid al-Haram has improved its audio system to enhance worshippers’ experience. More than 8,000 speakers broadcast the call to prayer, sermons, and important announcements. These speakers cover the mosque’s three expansions and outdoor courtyards.

The mosque also features 120,000 lighting units. These lights brighten the area day and night, creating a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere.
