Google has launched a new voice search feature called Search Live in the U.S. It’s available on both iOS and Android devices through the Google app. This tool is part of Google Labs’ AI Mode experiment and aims to improve how people search the web using their voice.
A More Natural Way to Search
Search Live allows you to talk to Google like you’re having a conversation. You can ask questions out loud and continue with follow-up questions. This helps users who are multitasking or moving around. Just tap the Live icon and begin talking. You’ll receive spoken answers along with helpful web links.
Multitasking Made Easier
This feature works even when you switch apps. You can continue chatting with Google in the background. It’s designed for people on the go — no need to stop and type. There’s also a Transcript option if you want to switch from voice to text mid-conversation.
Keep Track of Your Searches
With AI Mode history, users can view past responses. This allows you to pick up a previous search where you left off. It’s useful for people who need to revisit information or research in steps.
Similar to Gemini Live
Even though the features sound great, many users are confused. Google already offers Gemini Live, which provides similar tools. Both platforms allow voice chats, multitasking, and web browsing with AI help. Google claims Search Live uses a different version of Gemini with better voice tech.
What’s Coming Next?
Google says camera integration is on the way. This means you’ll be able to show the AI what you’re seeing. However, Gemini Live already does that. So, users are still wondering why these tools aren’t combined into one.
