Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Passes Away at 75

Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Fahd, the son of late King Fahd, has passed away at the age of 75. The Saudi Royal Court confirmed his death on Tuesday. He was known for his leadership, charity work, and contributions to national development.

A Leader Who Transformed the Eastern Province

Prince Mohammed served as the Governor of the Eastern Province for nearly 30 years. During his tenure, he focused on economic growth, infrastructure, and public services. His efforts made the region one of the most developed in Saudi Arabia.

He played a key role in expanding industries, hospitals, and schools. His leadership boosted the local economy and improved the quality of life for residents.

His Early Life and Education

Prince Mohammed bin Fahd was born in 1950 in Riyadh. He was the second son of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz.

He studied in the United States, earning a degree in political science and economics from California State University, Santa Barbara. After returning to Saudi Arabia, he worked in the private sector before eventually moving into government roles.

In 1985, he took on the role of Governor of the Eastern Province in 1985 and led the region for nearly three decades.

Support for Youth and Women

Prince Mohammed was committed to youth development and women’s empowerment. In 1999, he founded the Mohammed bin Fahd Foundation for Humanitarian Development. The foundation launched several social programs, including the SHIFAA Fund, which helps people access medical care.

His initiatives received international recognition. In 2002, he won the Dubai-United Nations International Prize for Best Practices. Similarly, in 2007, his youth program received the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work.

Contributions to Education

PM Shehbaz Sharif Offers Condolences

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the Saudi Prince’s death. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he praised Prince Mohammed’s contributions to Saudi Arabia’s progress.

Furthermore, he extended condolences to King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Saudi Royal Family.

Funeral and Prayers

Prince Mohammed bin Fahd’s funeral took place on Wednesday at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh. Following this, the funeral prayer was held after Asr prayer. Family members, dignitaries, and well-wishers attended the ceremony.
