Punjab Leads Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games After Day Two

Punjab continues to shine in the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games, maintaining their top spot at the end of Day Two with an impressive total of 60 medals. Held at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Punjab’s athletes have excelled across multiple sports, especially in swimming, securing 26 golds, 28 silvers, and 6 bronze medals. This remarkable performance has set a high bar for the competition.

Punjab Shines on Day Two

Punjab’s dominance in swimming has been one of the standout highlights of the event. Both the men’s and women’s teams have displayed exceptional talent and coordination, dominating individual and team events.

Swimming: The Golden Sport

In the girls’ swimming competitions, Rania Khan claimed gold in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2 minutes 47 seconds. Zehra Kazi secured two golds, winning the 100m breaststroke in 1 minute 43 seconds and the 50m freestyle. Ayesha Waqas took gold in the 200m breaststroke with a time of 2 minutes 59 seconds, while Mehar Hayat added another gold in the 200m freestyle.

On the boys’ side, Punjab’s swimmers continued to dominate. Aryan Rehman, Azan Maqbool, Chaudhry Hassan Ali, Agha, and Abdul Wasay Naseer each secured gold in their respective events, solidifying Punjab’s position as the frontrunner.

Islamabad’s Relay Success

Despite Punjab’s dominance, Islamabad’s athletes stood out in the relay events. The women’s 4x100m Medley Relay team, featuring Mahayha, Maham, Fayyadi, and Eman, clinched gold. Similarly, the men’s 4x100m Medley Relay team, comprising Abdullah, Hassan, Rashid, and Zaki, showcased their strength by bringing home gold in their event.

Provincial Medal Tally

As the competition intensifies, other provinces are striving to catch up.

-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Currently in third place with 7 medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 5 bronze).
-Sindh: Close behind with 6 medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 4 bronze).
-Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK): Secured a single gold medal, marking their presence on the tally.
-Balochistan: Earned 1 silver and 3 bronze medals, showcasing resilience despite fewer resources.

Over 200 Athletes Compete at the Pakistan Sports Complex

The Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games feature over 200 athletes from across the country, competing in 15 different sports. With the event concluding on December 19, sports enthusiasts eagerly await to see if Punjab can maintain its lead or if other provinces will stage a dramatic comeback.
