The PM Laptop Scheme 2025 registration deadline has officially been extended from May 20 to June 1, 2025. This gives students across Pakistan extra time to apply for free laptops under the government’s flagship initiative aimed at promoting digital learning.
According to an official from the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, the extension allows students who missed the earlier deadline to apply now. The scheme has received an overwhelming response from students nationwide, with thousands already submitting their applications.
The PM Laptop Scheme 2025 targets 100,000 talented students who are currently enrolled in PhD, MS/MPhil, Master’s, or Bachelor’s programs at recognized public sector universities. Applicants must meet academic criteria. They need a minimum CGPA of 2.80 or 60% marks. First-year students must submit their HSSC results, while MS and PhD students in their first semester must provide transcripts of their previous degree.
Only currently enrolled students can apply. Those who have graduated are not eligible, even if they applied during their studies.
A quota system ensures fair distribution. 18% of laptops are reserved for students from Balochistan, while 5% are set aside for distance learning students. This includes students from both Virtual University and Allama Iqbal Open University.
To apply, students can use the Digital Youth Hub (DYH) mobile app or visit the official website at www.pmyp.gov.pk. The portal is live and accepting applications.
Once applications are submitted, a temporary merit list will be published. Students will then have 15 days to raise objections or file complaints. After this window closes, the final merit list will be released.
The government considers the PM Laptop Scheme 2025 a long-term investment in youth and education. It aims to reduce the digital divide and equip students with tools they need to succeed in the modern world. The selection process is merit-based, transparent, and closely monitored.
