Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has firmly denied rumors about changes to its iconic logo or aircraft design while announcing ambitious fleet expansion plans for 2025. The airline clarified that its logo, representing the national flag, will remain unchanged, with no modifications made to the tail flag or overall aircraft design.
A spokesperson for the national flag carrier emphasized that all decisions regarding branding or design are subject to the approval of the board and relevant ministries. These reassurances put to rest speculation about potential branding updates.
Leadership Updates: New Acting CEO Appointed
In a key leadership development, Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat has been appointed as the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PIA. The appointment, approved by the Prime Minister, followed recommendations from the PIA Board of Directors. Amir Hayat takes over from Khurram Mushtaq, who previously held the additional charge as acting CEO.
Strengthening Domestic Operations
The national airline recently added a long-grounded ATR aircraft to its operational fleet. This addition will enhance service to key domestic destinations, including Gilgit, Sukkur, Turbat, and Gwadar. The inclusion of this aircraft marks a step forward in PIA’s efforts to strengthen connectivity across Pakistan.
Fleet Expansion Strategy for 2025
PIA is gearing up for an extensive fleet expansion to support its aggressive operational goals for 2025. The airline plans to grow its Airbus A320 fleet to 12 aircraft and increase its ATR fleet to two. This expansion is expected to follow the anticipated lifting of restrictions by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
With these enhancements, PIA aims to improve passenger experience and operational reliability. The fleet upgrades will also support PIA’s efforts to provide low-cost travel options for overseas Pakistanis.
Focus on International Routes and Performance
PIA is working tirelessly to expand its international network, offering more affordable travel options for Pakistanis abroad. These efforts are backed by the airline’s impressive on-time performance rate, which has exceeded 90%—one of the highest in the country.
The airline's spokesperson emphasized that PIA’s plans reflect its commitment to providing reliable and affordable travel options, alongside expanding its global reach.
