The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is now ranked as the 7th most powerful air force in the world. According to the Global Firepower report, this ranking reflects its tactical strength, advanced technology, and aircraft inventory. The PAF operates a fleet of 1,434 aircraft, including fighter jets, helicopters, and support planes.
Top Global Air Forces
The United States leads the rankings with unmatched air power. Its fleet includes 5,737 helicopters, 1,854 fighter jets, and 3,722 support aircraft. Backed by a massive $800 billion defense budget, the U.S. Air Force remains the strongest in the world.
Russia and China take the second and third spots. However, Russia faces challenges after losing over 220 aircraft during the Ukraine conflict since 2022.
China is quickly modernizing its air force. It has added advanced sixth-generation fighter jets and supersonic aircraft to its inventory, aiming for dominance in military aviation.
Regional Competitors
India ranks 4th with 2,296 aircraft, followed by South Korea and Japan at 5th and 6th places. South Korea operates 1,576 aircraft, while Japan has a fleet of 1,459 aircraft.
Pakistan’s 7th-place ranking shows its strong presence in the region. Despite limited resources, it maintains an impressive fleet with modern technology.

The top 10 list also includes Egypt, Turkey, and France. While they showcase strong air power, their fleets are smaller compared to the leading nations.
