The federal government has launched a major motorway extension project. This new route will make travel between Lahore and Islamabad quicker and smoother. The focus is to reduce travel time, ease traffic, and connect more cities directly.
Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan announced that the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway will now extend to Kharian and further connect to Islamabad. This smart move will reduce the travel distance by around 100 kilometers. As a result, people can reach their destination nearly an hour earlier.
Shorter Travel Time for Key Cities
This development will help travelers from Gujrat, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Kharian, and Gujar Khan. These cities will now enjoy a faster, more direct route to the capital. Business visits, daily commutes, and family trips will become easier.
Even better, the motorway will be expanded to six lanes. This will allow traffic to flow more freely and reduce congestion on the existing M-2 Motorway.
Government Monitoring and Long-Term Planning
To keep the work on track, the government has directed officials to closely monitor progress and ensure quality standards. This isn’t a short-term fix. It’s part of a 30-year national infrastructure plan. The aim is to improve transport networks across Pakistan.
Economic and Environmental Benefits
The motorway extension is more than a road. It’s a boost for Pakistan’s economy. It will lower fuel costs, save time, and reduce wear and tear on vehicles. Businesses can deliver goods faster. Tourists can travel more comfortably. People will spend less time in traffic and more time where it matters.
Better Roads, Brighter Future
With this project, Pakistan takes a step forward in regional development. It promises faster, safer, and more efficient road travel. More connected cities mean more opportunities—for trade, travel, and growth.
