Traffic Plan Issued for Independence Day Event in Karachi

Karachi Traffic Update

The Karachi Traffic Update has been issued ahead of the Independence Day celebrations and the grand “Marka-e-Haq” event. The gathering will take place at the National Bank Stadium this evening. The traffic police have warned that the roads around the venue will get busy from 5:00 pm. The event begins at 6:00 pm and crowds will stay late. Heavy traffic may last until 2:00 am.

Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel between the Civic Centre and the stadium during this time. Large traffic jams are likely, so planning ahead is important.

What is the Marka-e-Haq Event?

Provincial ministers and the Arts Council Karachi president recently reviewed the event preparations. The “Marka-e-Haq” celebrations are being held to honor Pakistan’s resilience and pride. The theme refers to a military conflict earlier this year. During that time, Pakistan downed six Indian jets and destroyed drones in a short but intense battle. The conflict ended after a US-brokered ceasefire.

Traffic and Parking Arrangements

The Karachi Traffic Police have shared a detailed plan to manage the rush. Vehicles with official parking stickers can enter the stadium through Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 11.

Parking spots have been set up at the Expo Centre and China Ground. Visitors from District Central can park at the Expo Centre and take a shuttle bus to the stadium. Those from District South, District East, and Malir can park at China Ground, accessible through Karsaz, New Town, and Rashid Minhas Road.

Alternate Routes and Diversions

Travelers going to Sharea Faisal via Liaquatabad and Hassan Square can use University Road and Shaheed-e-Millat Road. Those coming from Karsaz towards Liaquatabad should use Rashid Minhas Road and NIPA.

If you are at the Expo Centre and heading to Sharea Faisal, Shaheed-e-Millat Road is the recommended option. Residents of East, Malir, South, and West districts can also take the Lyari Expressway as an alternative route.

Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles

Buses, minibuses, and other commercial vehicles will be diverted from Karsaz, Drigh Road, Millennium Mall, Expo Centre, and New Town. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed from Sohrab Goth towards NIPA, from Liaquatabad No. 10 to Hassan Square, or from PP Chowrangi towards University Road.
