JUI-F Leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed Passes Away in Quetta

Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, a senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has passed away in Quetta after battling a prolonged illness. His son, Munir Ahmed, confirmed the news, stating that he had been suffering from kidney disease for a long time.
A Significant Loss for JUI-F
JUI-F officially announced his demise, expressing deep sorrow and calling his passing a great loss for the party. Party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman shared his grief, remembering Hafiz Hussain Ahmed as a wise and ideological leader. He stated that his death marks the end of an era filled with political wisdom and experience.
A Life Dedicated to Politics
Hafiz Hussain Ahmed began his political journey in 1973 at the provincial level in Balochistan. Over the years, he played a key role in national politics. He served as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from 1988 to 1990 and again from 2002 to 2007. He also represented JUI-F as a Senator from 1991 to 1994.
His leadership extended beyond JUI-F. He held significant positions in the Pakistan National Alliance and remained JUI-F’s spokesperson for many years. However, in November 2020, he distanced himself from the party due to internal differences. Later on, he reconciled with Maulana Fazlur Rehman and rejoined the party in December 2022.
Tributes Pour In
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief over his passing. In a condolence message, he prayed for the departed soul’s elevated ranks in Jannah and grant of courage to the bereaved family. He described Hafiz Hussain Ahmed as a seasoned politician, expressing that the entire nation is standing in solidarity with the bereaved family.
Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also conveyed his condolences. He highlighted that the void left by Hafiz Hussain Ahmed’s passing will be difficult to fill.
Final Arrangements
Family sources confirmed that he breathed his last at his residence in Quetta. The funeral details will be announced later. His family has decided to lay him to rest in his ancestral hometown.
JUI-F also confirmed his passing on its official social media account, paying tribute to his contributions.
