The Islamabad Safari Park project is set to become a major attraction in the capital. The government has approved the park with an estimated budget of Rs. 10 billion. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will manage the project, announced by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during the Serena Interchange inauguration.
Location Still Under Review
The Islamabad Safari Park project is yet to have a final location. Initially, officials considered Fatima Jinnah Park as a possible site. However, authorities are now evaluating other locations that may be more suitable.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi played a key role in developing Lahore’s Safari Park as Punjab’s Chief Minister. He now aims to establish a similar facility in Islamabad. Experts suggest that the selected site will have enough space for various animals, green landscapes, and visitor-friendly facilities. The government is focused on choosing a sustainable and well-maintained location.
Project Timeline and Expected Features
The Islamabad Safari Park project is approved, but construction has not started yet. During a National Assembly session, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb inquired about the project’s status. The interior minister confirmed that work will begin soon. Once construction starts, it is expected to be completed within 18 months.
The park is expected to feature:
- Safari tours
- Wildlife exhibits
- Recreational areas for families and tourists
This initiative aims to promote tourism in Islamabad and provide an exciting outdoor experience for residents and visitors.
Funding and CDA’s Revenue
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has raised Rs. 129 billion in commercial plot auctions over the past five years. This revenue will fund multiple development projects, including the Islamabad Safari Park project.
Authorities believe that the park will contribute to Islamabad’s tourism growth and offer a new recreational destination for the public. The government remains committed to ensuring the project is completed on time.
