Moon Sighting and Expected Eid Date

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on the evening of March 30 to confirm the sighting of the Shawwal moon. Religious scholars, weather experts, and officials will participate in the meeting.

According to Suparco, the moon will be visible on March 30. This prediction matches global forecasts, suggesting that Eid ul Fitr 2025 will likely fall on March 31.

Experts say the crescent will not be visible on March 29, making it likely that most Islamic countries, including Pakistan, will celebrate Eid on the same day.

Scientific Predictions and Astronomical Data

Suparco reports that the new moon will be born on March 29 at 3:58 PM Pakistan time. By March 30, the moon’s age will exceed 26 hours, making it visible under clear skies.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council confirms that the time between sunset and moonset will be over 40 minutes. This increases the chances of a confirmed sighting on March 30. If the sighting is confirmed, Eid will be celebrated on March 31.

Pakistan Railways Announces Special Eid Trains

To help travelers during the Eid ul Fitr 2025 holidays in Pakistan, Pakistan Railways will run four special trains. These trains will operate on busy routes, including:

  • Quetta to Peshawar
  • Sibbi, Sukkur/Rohri, Khanewal, Lahore, and Rawalpindi

Passengers should book tickets early as demand will be high during Eid.

Regional Moon Sighting Updates

In some Western Arab countries, including Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia, a partial solar eclipse will occur on March 29. This proves that the crescent cannot be seen on that day.

Authorities have warned against false moon sighting claims on March 29, saying such reports would contradict scientific data.

Earlier, Suparco predicted that Ramadan would start on March 2, and Eid ul Fitr would fall on March 31. The latest forecasts confirm this timeline.
