Air Karachi Seeks License to Launch Flights: Pakistan’s Aviation Industry Expands

Air Karachi Seeks License

Air Karachi seeks license to operate domestic flights in Pakistan. The airline has applied for a Regular Public Transport (RPT) license from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA). Once approved, it will begin operations in multiple cities. This marks a significant development in Pakistan’s aviation sector.

Air Karachi’s Entry into the Market

Air Karachi is a private venture backed by well-known business figures. The airline is already registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and has completed the initial regulatory steps.

Businessman Hanif Gohar announced the airline’s launch, revealing that it will start with an investment of Rs 5 billion. Each shareholder has contributed Rs 50 million to fund the project. This investment will support aircraft leasing, operational costs, and infrastructure.

To ensure smooth operations, Air Karachi has appointed Retired Air Vice Marshal Imran as CEO. His aviation expertise will help shape the airline’s strategy, fleet expansion, and operational efficiency.

In its first phase, Air Karachi will lease three aircraft for domestic flights. The airline will focus on serving key cities across Pakistan. If successful, it may expand its services to international routes.

The airline is backed by leading investors, including Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib, SM Tanveer, Bashir Jan Muhammad, Khalid Tawab, Zubair Tufail, and Hamza Tabani. Their financial support and business experience will strengthen the airline’s position in the market.

Competition and Industry Growth

Pakistan’s aviation industry is growing, with new airlines entering the market.

In September last year, Jet Green, Q Airways, and Go Green Air applied for licenses. Air Indus is seeking approval to restart operations. Meanwhile, Q Aviation and Liberty Air have submitted applications for new airlines.

According to PCAA officials, the rising number of airline applications shows economic growth and increased demand for air travel in Pakistan.
