The A-Level paper leak during the June 2025 exam session has been officially confirmed by Cambridge International Education (CIE). On Thursday, CIE stated that parts of three AS and A Level papers were leaked in Pakistan before students sat for their exams.
The affected papers include:
- AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 12 (one question leaked)
- AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 42 (parts of two questions leaked)
- AS & A Level Computer Science Paper 22 (part of one question leaked)
“In all three cases, we found no evidence that the whole paper had been shared before the exam,” CIE clarified in its statement.
To ensure fairness, CIE has decided to give full marks to all students for the questions that were leaked. “We have disregarded some questions from each paper — we will award you full marks for these questions,” the statement read. The final grades will still be issued on August 12, 2025, as planned.
Dr. Anthony Dawson, Director of Assessment Standards, said the board’s actions will help maintain trust. He explained, “The grades we award will be accurate and reliable.” CIE also noted that “justice to honest students is our top priority.”
The A-Level paper leak has raised concerns among students and parents. To address these, CIE emphasized its commitment to academic integrity. “Our actions make sure that candidates who accessed question paper content before their exam do not have any advantage,” it said.
CIE has launched multiple investigations. It warned that those involved may face severe consequences. “Centres will likely be deregistered… For candidates, it is likely to mean disqualification and barring from entering our exams.”
Despite the breach, CIE reminded the public that such incidents are rare. The board reassured everyone that “the security of our exams is of the utmost importance.”
The A-Level paper leak is also being reviewed by Pakistan’s Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities.
