Rashid Latif Demands to Drop Shaheen Afridi From Pakistan Team

Rashid Latif Demands

Rashid Latif demands the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to drop Shaheen Afridi from the national team. Latif believes Afridi has not delivered for Pakistan, especially after their loss to New Zealand in the tri-nation series opener. He calls for an overhaul of Pakistan’s fast bowling attack.

Latif questioned when Afridi last played a match-winning role. He pointed out that Afridi’s performances have not been good lately. Despite being a senior player, Afridi has not made an impact. Latif said that senior players like Afridi and Naseem Shah need to be held accountable for their underperformance.

Latif also highlighted the inconsistency in how players are treated. He said that players like Khushdil Shah and Salman Agha often face criticism, while senior players like Afridi, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan escape scrutiny. Latif believes this is hurting the team.

Latif also raised concerns about Naseem Shah’s performance. Although Naseem has been with the team for a long time, he hasn’t contributed much to Pakistan’s success. Latif believes that if the senior pacers like Afridi and Naseem do not improve, the whole team will suffer.

In addition to Afridi’s form, Latif mentioned the injury of Haris Rauf. He said that Rauf’s presence could have helped change the outcome of the match.

Pakistan lost to New Zealand by 78 runs. The team fell short in their chase of a 331-run target. The top scorer was Fakhar Zaman with 84 runs, but key players like Babar Azam (10 runs) and Mohammad Rizwan (3 runs) failed. Even Agha’s 40-run knock wasn’t enough to save the team.

Latif’s call for the PCB to drop Shaheen Afridi and overhaul the fast bowling attack is clear. He believes it’s time for a change. The senior players need to be held accountable. Fresh faces should be given a chance to improve the team’s performance.

The pressure on the PCB to reassess the team and its strategy is growing.
