WaterAid and PepsiCo Foundation Celebrate Urban Water Initiative Milestone

Urban Water

WaterAid Pakistan’s Urban Water Access initiative has improved thousands of lives across Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta. Started in 2022 with support from the PepsiCo Foundation, this 3-year project helped people get clean water and better hygiene.

The initiative installed water filters, trained communities, and formed local Water User Committees. It also worked in schools and healthcare centers to support lasting, healthy change.

Supporting Basic Human Rights

Water and sanitation are essential for health and dignity. Sindh’s Education Minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, said that everyone must work together for water access. He called it a basic right. He encouraged communities, government, and civil society to stay accountable.

Strong Partnerships for Lasting Impact

Mian Muhammad Junaid, WaterAid Pakistan’s Country Director, highlighted the project’s success. He said real change came from working with the private sector and local leaders. This teamwork helped people manage and keep water services running long after the project ends.

Hatim Khan from the PepsiCo Foundation agreed. He said safe water is a global right. PepsiCo supports efforts that bring local, long-term solutions.
