The Muharram Traffic Plan in Peshawar helps protect citizens and manage traffic during the holy month. Because processions attract large gatherings, special steps are being taken to reduce congestion and improve road safety.
Over 1,000 Officers Deployed
Chief Traffic Officer Haroon Rashid Khan has deployed more than 1,000 traffic officers and wardens. They will be stationed at important locations. Moreover, forklifts and motorcycles will support them in clearing routes and handling emergencies.
Procession Routes Inspected in Advance
Traffic police are inspecting all major routes before the processions begin. As a result, issues raised by religious groups are resolved quickly. Furthermore, officers on-site are giving direct instructions to ensure everything goes smoothly.
Road Closures and Smart Diversions
From the 7th to the 10th of Muharram, roads near processions and Imambargahs will stay closed for general traffic. However, alternate routes have already been shared. These diversions will help minimize inconvenience for both the public and participants.
Daily Visits to Procession Sites
Officers will visit Imambargahs daily. Through these visits, they aim to identify new concerns and act immediately. In fact, Haroon Rashid confirmed that action will be taken the moment problems are reported. This shows the commitment to real-time problem-solving.
Public Support is Essential
The CTO has urged people to follow all traffic instructions. When citizens cooperate, traffic flows better and safety improves. So, the public’s role remains critical throughout this sacred time.
