Safe City Karachi has finally started its operations. In its first successful move, the system helped arrest a man using a car with a fake number plate. The vehicle was caught by cameras near the Arambagh police station. The camera system flagged it, and police quickly responded. A case was registered at the concerned police station.
Swift Action Taken
The arrest came after the city’s new surveillance cameras became active. These cameras were designed to track illegal activity. When the system detected a suspicious number plate, the alert was sent to the police. Action was taken right away.
Leadership Behind the Move
Asif Ijaz Sheikh, Director General of Safe City, said this was their first official action. He confirmed it happened after a key meeting led by Sindh’s Chief Minister and the Interior Minister. Clear instructions were given to start the operations quickly.
Legal Orders in Place
The Chief Minister ordered legal action against anyone using fake number plates. He also asked the IG Sindh Police and the DG of Safe City to make sure all systems work properly. Their goal is to stop crime with modern tools.
Surveillance to Monitor Crime
Officials said all installed surveillance cameras should now be fully functional. These will help monitor roads and catch any illegal actions in real-time. This will improve law and order across the city.
Future of Safe City Karachi
This arrest marks a strong beginning for Safe City Karachi. The project aims to make Karachi a safer place. More arrests are expected as cameras keep working around the clock.
