Pakistan’s Olympic hero Arshad Nadeem continues to dominate the field. On Friday, he secured his spot in the javelin throw final at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships with a powerful 86.34-meter throw on his first attempt.

Competing in Group A, Arshad Nadeem wasted no time. His throw placed him at the top of the leaderboard instantly. It was also the longest throw of the round. Following him were Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage with 83.71 meters and Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama with 81.36 meters.

Joining him in the final is fellow Pakistani athlete Yasir Sultan. He qualified from Group B with a strong 76.07-meter throw. Yasir now enters the final ranked ninth.

Earlier, Arshad had said he was ready to give his best. “This is the first major event after the Olympics, and I’ve been working hard for the past five months,” he shared. He also added, “I do not compete with anyone else — my competition is with Arshad Nadeem himself.”

This is his first big appearance since his historic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. There, he stunned the world with a 92.97-meter throw, which set a new Olympic record. That moment put him among the world’s top javelin athletes.

The Pakistan Athletics Federation expressed strong support for the team. They believe both throwers have what it takes to win medals. Arshad’s performance also reinforces his recent title as Best Asian Athlete, awarded by the Asian Athletics Association.
