Former US President Joe Biden prostate cancer diagnosis was confirmed on Sunday. At 82, Biden was found to have an aggressive form of prostate cancer. The cancer has spread to his bones, which shows it is at an advanced stage.
Biden’s office said the cancer is aggressive but responds to hormone therapy. This means it can be managed. Doctors gave the cancer a Gleason score of 9. This is one of the highest scores and shows the cancer is serious. Biden and his family are now reviewing treatment options with his doctors.

Former President Barack Obama also shared his thoughts. “Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace,” Obama said. “We pray for a fast and full recovery.”
This news comes amid new reports about Biden’s last year in office. A book by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson says Biden’s team tried to hide his health problems. The book describes moments when Biden appeared confused and talks about concerns over his ability to move.
Biden denied these claims on ABC’s “The View.” “They are wrong. There’s nothing to sustain that,” he said. He also added that his choice to exit the race was to keep his party united: “The only reason I got out of the race is because I didn’t want to have a divided Democratic Party.”
Before the diagnosis was public, Senator Chris Murphy admitted it may have been a mistake to run Biden again. “It was a mistake for Democrats to not listen to the voters earlier and set up a process that would have gotten us in a position when we could’ve been more competitive that fall,” Murphy said.
Biden’s battle with cancer is deeply personal. His son, Beau Biden, died from brain cancer in 2015. This loss fueled Biden’s commitment to cancer research. As president, he revived the Cancer Moonshot initiative, aiming to cut cancer deaths by half over 25 years.
