Karachi Intermediate Exams 2025 Postponed Due to Administrative Delays

Intermediate exams 2025 postponed in Karachi for 2025 due to planning and management problems. The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has now moved the exams by nine days. Students who were ready to give papers on April 28 must now wait until May 6 or later.
Pre-Engineering and Pre-Medical Exams Affected
The delay will impact the first phase, which includes pre-engineering, pre-medical, and general science papers. Because of this, the second phase, which includes commerce and arts exams, will also be pushed back.
Officials said this step was needed because of many overlapping issues.
Exam Centres Still Occupied
One big reason is the shortage of exam centres. Many centres planned for intermediate students are still being used for matric exams. In Karachi, the matric exams will go on until May 2. Only after that can the same centres be prepared for the intermediate exams.
Grace Marks Delayed Schedules
Another problem is the change in first-year results. The board gave grace marks. This changed many students’ results. Because of this, officials could not complete exam lists or prepare seating and schedules on time.
No Board Chairman for a Month
For over a month, Karachi and Hyderabad boards had no chairman. Without leadership, approvals for centres and updated schedules were delayed. This gap made things worse.
Officials said that the situation became more difficult without key decisions being made.
Multiple Changes in Exam Plan
The exam plan has already changed many times this year. At first, the Sindh Education Department’s steering committee planned matric exams from March 15 and intermediate exams from April 8.
But private school groups raised concerns. They said that students might face difficulty giving exams during Ramazan.
So, the committee moved matric exams to April 8, after Eid. Intermediate exams were rescheduled to April 28. But now, intermediate exams postponed again to May 6.
This means students will now give papers during the hot summer.
Delay May Affect Admissions
This ongoing delay may also push back exam results. It might affect university admissions and delay the next academic year in Sindh.
Students and parents are now worried. The sudden shifts have caused stress for many.
